We Make Communication Happen.

We are All HANDS IN MOTION

WHO WE ARE

We are a company. We are not an agency.

We are a company. We are not an agency.

All HANDS IN MOTION offers a variety of services that includes American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation including remote interpreting services, international sign, tactile interpreting, oral transliteration, speech-to-text transcription, and community recreation initiatives. These services are provided to diverse groups of people who are Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Deaf-Blind, late-deafened and hearing. Contractors are scheduled based on availability and matched to an assignment based on the extensive information requested by our office staff. Bound by confidentiality and a strong desire to be of service, our contractors are professionals who are determined to make the communication process as seamless as possible.

Maintained as a small, intimate boutique, All HANDS IN MOTION takes a unique perspective in both service provision and the selection of service providers. As a company, rather than agency, we invite interpreters and transcribers to contract their services based on level of skill and expertise, a strong work ethic, commitment to teamwork, personal and professional integrity, with respect for and involvement with the Deaf Community.

We will continue to keep you safe and our professionals safe as Covid and RSV remain a concern. We are on-site, but remote services will remain an option especially if your organization has been successfully using video. When scheduling with us, our coordinators will inquire about the environment of your event to ensure that social distancing and proper ventilation remains a conscious consideration.

What Makes Us Special

Any Environment, Any Setting

Our interpreter contractors, including the owner of All HANDS IN MOTION, are both generalists and specialists. We specialize in providing services for higher education, medical situations, legal matters, mental health and domestic violence situations, and more.

As part of a professional mandate, we maintain our national certification by attending professional development workshops, seminars and conferences. And, we individually and collectively give back to our community providing our expertise pro bono following specific parameters.

Transcriptionists are professionally trained with areas of generalization and expertise. These contractors follow a code of professional conduct as do sign language interpreters, and are committed to professional development and peer support.

Any Environment, Any Setting

We Support Our Community

Building a strong interconnected community entails commitment, passion, diligence, and integrity. Our day does not end when the last assignment ends.

STUDIO 504 was created to engage Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing and interpreter hobbyists who wanted to teach art, dance, movement, and cake/cookie decorating. Classes phased out organically, but we look forward upgrading a newer approach in the upcoming year to offer fun events other than Community Happy Hour (CHH).

Monthly Community Happy Hours are back after Covid. The second Thursday of the month we gather at a local Manhattan bar/restaurant meeting new faces and embracing old friends and colleagues. This social outlet provides a space for New Yorkers, tri-staters and international people who are Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Deaf-Blind and late-deafened to meet, eat, drink and engage with others without barriers.

We Know Our Community

Our owner lives locally and was cultivated by the New York Deaf community. Interpreters and transcriptionists who contract with us live and work in all five boroughs, some beyond! We'll be there on time, if not early- even if the #7 isn't running. We know our town, our community and one another. Have a question about the communication process; interpreted theater; remote technology; what is a cochlear implant; how is ASL different from English; how many sign languages are there? Call or email us. We are happy to be of service and act as a resource.

Graduate Student, Columbia University

"It was exciting to be accepted to an Ivy League school for my graduate studies but the fear of not being able to have access to communication was overwhelming. The interpreters from All Hands in Motion allowed me to be able to focus on being the best student I could be by allowing me to participate fully. I honestly loved my time in graduate school and I have All Hands in Motion to thank for that."

All Hands in Motion is "a company I can depend on and trust that the right interpreter or transcriptionist is on the job. For the past 15 years The New School has used AHiM and when I stepped into the position of Director, I could not have been more satisfied by the professionalism, care and concern by staff, CEO and service providers... [The New School] Orientation & Transition Program's Admin[istrator]: "PHENOMENAL advocates of diversity, equity, and inclusion... Their feedback and ideas... to ensure that people of color, people of different sizes, etc are represented in their best light was amazing. Their advocacy for self-care and boundaries for their staff was phenomenal."
